A Celebration of Diversity March and Rally

17 August 2014

Bournemouth is a brilliant, vibrant and cosmopolitan place where many people of different cultures, backgrounds, abilities and faiths come together to work, live and study.

Bournemouth welcomes millions of visitors to come to our world class tourist resort from around the world. Our colleges and University welcome all comers regardless of their cultural backgrounds.

Because of this it is depressing to discover that the far right English Defence League, which is a violent and racist organisation, is to march in Bournemouth on Saturday 23rd August. Fascism and racism are a threat to our society. That’s why it is vital that local residents make a stand against such divisive and dangerous groups. We must show that they do not speak for us!

A counter demonstration is being planned which the Green Party, among many other organisations, is supporting. The event has been agreed with Dorset Police. Join the demonstration - it is a celebration and suitable for all the family, and all members of our community are welcome. You will find us holding the Green Party banner!

The meeting point is at Horseshoe Common, Bournemouth - 12.15pm ready to move off at 12.45 via Dean Park Crescent to rally at Bath Hill Car Park, Bath Road.
