24 July 2015
On Wednesday, 22nd July, Natalie Bennett visited Bournemouth to meet with members. This was a last minute arrangement in her busy schedule, but nevertheless, over 50 members managed to come along to meet her in the garden of Chaplins Bar.
Natalie began by conveying the Green Party's congratulations to our newly elected Councillor, Simon Bull, pictured with her. She then gave us a brief overview of the party's present focus, and said "We can be the biggest party in the country - we just need to invite one friend each to join!" In the South West we had the biggest membership surge. She stressed that we need to get involved with other groups locally.
She then held a question and answer session, before giving a press interview. This was followed by a photo shoot, and informal chatting over refreshments, before catching the train back to London.
The following day, Molly Scott Cato, Green Party MEP for the South West was also in Bournemouth. She was speaking on the subject ‘How green policies could transform the South West’. Several of our members attended, including Simon and Adrian.
