Chris Rigby gets Wessex Water grilled over raw sewage discharges

Wessex Water managers were grilled for nearly two hours by a panel of BCP councillors, over the company's record of raw sewage overflow discharges into the sea at sites spanning most of the Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch coastline. The hearing at BCP Council's Overview & Scrutiny Committee had been secured by Green Councillor Chris Rigby.

Simon Bull presses universities over student-community relations in Winton

Simon encourages community-minded students to sign up as paid Community Wardens.

Felling of diseased trees in Winton: Simon Bull pushes for proper replacements

A fabulous cherry tree on Fitzharris Avenue in Winton is destined to be removed, due to evidence of fungal decay, which means it's likely to be unsafe. Green Councillor Simon Bull says: "I've spoken extensively with the council officers for trees. Of course, those staff love trees! They reassure me that they will be planting a new specimen in this space, and also looking at other spaces in the avenue where trees have previously been removed."

Mallard Road Park: Kate Salmon gets playground danger and graffiti sorted

BCP Council have now repaired a hole in the soft landing floor at Mallard Road Park playground, which was dangerous to slide users. They have also removed the worst of the graffiti. Kate Salmon had complained to BCP Council over the state of the aged playground.

Green Party selects Moordown as first new target ward for 2023 BCP Council election

BCP Green Party has selected Moordown as its first new target ward for the next local elections in May 2023. In May 2019, the Green Party's Kate Salmon (née Bisson) was just 43 votes away from being elected instead of Conservative Councillor Beverley Dunlop. This makes Moordown statistically the most winnable ward in BCP for the Green Party at the next election in May 2023.

'Lovely' Christmas Tree lights switch-on event in Winton

Charminster Road: Council to consider new crossing

BCP Council will now consider providing a new crossing on Charminster Road, for safer pedestrian journeys to Moordown-catchment schools on East Way and Malvern Road plus Queen’s Park Children’s Centre. This is in response to the campaign by local parent Kate Salmon.

New equipment store coming to Winton Community Shed - Green Councillors channel community infrastructure funds

Simon Bull said: "I'm very pleased that we have been able to support the Winton Community Shed through Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) funding announced today. They will be able to safely and securely store their equipment."

BCP Greens attend Global Day for Climate Justice Marches for COP in Glasgow and Bournemouth

An estimated 200 people attended the Global Day for Climate Justice event in Bournemouth on Saturday 6th November. BCP Green Councillor Simon Bull was one of those giving speeches in Bournemouth, with a BCP Green Party bloc represented at the march and rally.

Wimborne Road litter concerns: Local Greens on the case

Moordown Green Party campaigner Kate Salmon has asked BCP Council if they will provide extra litter bins, on a long shop-lined stretch of Wimborne Road in Moordown which currently has none.
