BCP creates a new era for cycling and walking

4 July 2020

CyclingBCP Council has been indicatively awarded around £1.4million from the government’s Emergency Active Travel Fund - a funding package to 'create new era for cycling and walking'.

This is more than originally awarded due to their submission getting top marks against the criteria.

This means that:
Over the coming weeks they will be making changes to roads and pavements;
They will create low traffic neighbourhoods and implement pop up cycle lanes.

With bars, cafes and restaurants reopening this will give more outside space for businesses to welcome back customers. Once the emergency measures are in place you will be able to have your say by taking part in an online consultation.

Prior and during lockdown they received more than 1000 ideas from residents to improve walking and cycling.

Our Green Party Councillors are pleased to support this move, and hope that more environmentally friendly policies will follow.
