Bournemouth Climate March

18 September 2014

South East Dorset Green Party will be joining others at the Bournemouth Climate March this Sunday, 21st February.

This march calls for 100% clean energy and is being held as part of a global day of action.

Community groups and Dorset residents are expected to join supporters of Avaaz - a civic organisation that promotes activism -  in a two-hour town centre protest.

Participants will gather at 1.00pm at the Kino Lounge, Bournemouth, before marching around the town two days before an emergency summit of world leaders is set to take place in New York chaired by UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-Moon.

Those wishing to take part in the march are asked to wear something green or paint a green heart on their face or banner.

Signatures will also be collected for a petition calling for green energy.

Bournemouth organiser Michael French said,"This climate day of action is snowballing into a massive mobilisation of millions around the world who want leaders to do more to stop runaway climate change.

"It is so exciting to join 2,600 other marches on the same day. Community groups and individuals from around Bournemouth are taking part to show the huge level of public support for a global deal that will avert climate catastrophe and make way for  new 100% clean future.

"This is something that affects everyone."
