Green Party Reaction Over Remploy Closure

30 November 2012

The South East Dorset Green Party’s media officer Ryan Cleminson has angrily reacted to the news that the disability company Remploy in Poole is to close, making staff redundant. Upon reading the news in the Bournemouth Daily Echo Ryan Cleminson said: “In this economic climate the government should be protecting jobs and not cutting them.  Remploy makes a profit of £68m and is closed whereas the Royal Bank of Scotland makes a £2bn loss and they get a bonus.

"The government has its priorities wrong. When David Cameron says “We are all in this together” this is clearly not the case.  I find it absurd that in our name the government is going to place vulnerable members of the community onto benefits instead of giving them independence by allowing them to have safe, secure jobs at Remploy.”
