Ninth Green Community Fair

2 September 2014

This weekend saw the ninth Green Community Fair take place, this time in the lovely setting of Poole Park. Although the Fair did not draw huge crowds, it was pleasing to see that those who came and enjoyed it were of all ages. This was a real family event, including a parade of children showing off the giant bees and dragon they had made in the workshop.

Regional and local charities, community and voluntary groups, ethical and environmental traders and businesses were involved in this free event, together with talks and demonstrations, solar powered entertainment, arts and crafts workshops using recycled materials, and a Cabaret Stage with live music and performances throughout the day.

Members of South East Dorset Green Party were among the stallholders, talking to the public, giving out literature, and promoting both the Little Green Festival in Swanage and the Climate Change March in September. Our sales table with home-made cakes, baby plants and recycled Christmas cards helped to attract people to our stall!

The sun shone, the atmosphere was relaxed and friendly, and the setting was idyllic. Many thanks to Sam the Paperwork Fairy for organising the event, and we are looking forward to the next one!
