The Green Party in Poole will stand the only full slate of 42 candidates in the local elections on May 7th. In a local ‘Green Surge’ that reflects the national trend in membership for their Party - up from 15,000 at the start of 2014 to 60,000 now - the new candidates offer Poole voters a real alternative to the austerity consensus.
Adrian John Oliver, parliamentary candidate for Poole constituency and council candidate for Newtown ward, commented “I am delighted that the surge in Green Party membership and support is being reflected in record numbers of Green Party candidates in the local elections, with an historic full slate of 42 Green Party candidates in Poole, 37 in Bournemouth and several more in Christchurch, East Dorset and Purbeck. Last year local people helped elect Molly Scott Cato, Green MEP for the South West, and now there is a viable option for everyone in Bournemouth and Poole wanting genuinely progressive representation at local and parliamentary levels too.”
