Green Party member of the House of Lords, Baroness Jenny Jones, has criticised the failure of the new Dorset Police & Crime Commissioner, the Conservatives' David Sidwick, to reinstate the local policing scrutiny panels set up by his independent predecessor. Baroness Jones described it as "clearly a very poor decision" and a "bad choice for Dorset".

Black people are 25 times more likely to be stopped and searched than white people in Dorset, a 2020 report found.
