  • Low water levels in Queen’s Park pond: “A huge amount of effort” going on, and full programme of remedial works booked, says Alasdair Keddie
    Councillor Alasdair Keddie (Queen’s Park & Charminster) says: “The low water levels in Queen’s Park pond this year have been a big concern, I would like to assure everyone that a huge amount of effort has been going on behind the scenes to try and address this.  There is a full programme of works now booked in for this winter to preserve the long term future of the pond.”
  • Work underway to regenerate Queen’s Park Play Area
    Work is now underway to regenerate the Woodpecker Play Area at Queen’s Park. Over Summer half-term, children were invited to look at the options for new play equipment and vote for what they liked the most.
  • New investment for all three Queen’s Park & Charminster green spaces secured by Alasdair Keddie
    Green Councillor for Queen’s Park & Charminster, Alasdair Keddie, has secured grant funding for essential repairs and upgrades at every green space in the ward: * £4,500 for repairs and improvements to the Strouden Park sports pavilion. * £8,000 to support regeneration of Cyril Park – which has not seen any meaningful upgrade in more than 10 years. * £7,000 for removal and replacement of the condemned pond viewing platform at Queen’s Park.
  • £103,400 extra for East Cliff & Springbourne secured by Sara Armstrong
    Since being elected two years ago, hard-working Green Councillor for East Cliff & Springbourne, Sara Armstrong, has brought £103,400 of extra investment into our area. Sara has personally written and worked with local groups to make applications, resulting in securing grants, and Community Infrastructure funding levied from developers. This is supporting projects that matter to local people – from safer parks and better bins, to improved green spaces and community facilities.
  • Over £21,000 secured for more street trees in Winton East
    Winton East currently has the lowest level of tree canopy cover – high branches offering shade – of any area in our conurbation.  Winton East’s Green Councillors Simon Bull and Chris Rigby have secured over £21,000, mostly Community Infrastructure funds [levied from developers], for more street trees in Winton.
  • More improvements secured for two Winton parks
    Hard-working Green councillors for Winton East, Simon Bull and Chris Rigby, arranged for the fence between the upper and lower sections of Winton Library Gardens to be removed. This follows last year’s re-opening of the lower section of the Gardens after years of work by Simon and Chris. Meanwhile, a new community information board is on the way to Fampoux Gardens between Green Road and Firbank Road.
  • Travel Petition Response
    BCP Council heard a petition on Tuesday signed by residents and motorists calling for changes to local transport policies. Green Party councillors have previously engaged with members of the motorists’ group and recognise the concerns behind the petition.
