  • BCP Council unanimously passes Green motion to support Climate & Nature Bill
    BCP Council has unanimously passed a motion proposed by Green Councillors Kate Salmon and Chris Rigby, to publicly support the Climate & Nature Bill being put before Parliament. Proposing the motion at Full Council, Kate Salmon said: “The Climate & Nature Bill represents the most up-to-date and science-led thinking on how the UK should tackle the twin crises of climate change and biodiversity loss. The Bill, written by scientists and experts, was first introduced to Parliament in 2020, by former Green Party MP Caroline Lucas. At that time it was called the Climate & Ecology Bill, and it followed the declaration by the UK Government, and by councils across the country – including this one – of a Climate & Ecological Emergency.”
  • Cllr Sara Armstrong quizzes Dorset Police & Crime Commissioner over violence against women and girls
    Councillor Sara Armstrong says: “As this month of October is dedicated to raising awareness of violence against women and girls – I have written to David Sidwick, Dorset Police & Crime Commissioner, to find out about the scale of it in Dorset in particular BCP and what is being done to tackle it.”
  • Sara Armstrong discusses plans for £10,000 prosperity grant for Springbourne
    Earlier this month Councillor Sara Armstrong met with her East Cliff & Springbourne ward colleague Cllr Moriarty and BCP Council officers from Greenspaces and Economic Development to discuss the use of the Prosperity Fund in the ward. £10,000 has been allocated to enhance the Springbourne district area. Improvements will focus on the area around the pocket park at Springbourne Library.
  • Proposal for East Cliff & Springbourne Neighbourhood plan progresses to next stage
    Sara Armstrong says: “I’m absolutely delighted to announce that our Neighbourhood Plan for East Cliff & Springbourne is progressing to the next stage. BCP Council is consulting on the proposed East Cliff and Springbourne Neighbourhood Forum and Area boundary.”
  • Sara Armstrong and councillor colleagues tour Hebrew Congregation Synagogue, discuss community cohesion with Police Commissioner
    On Friday 9 August, Councillor Sara Armstrong (East Cliff & Springbourne) was invited to meet with ward colleagues and members of the Bournemouth Hebrew Congregation, BCP councillors including our new Leader Cllr Millie Earl, and the Jewish Board of Deputies, for a tour of the Synagogue.
  • Winton Library Gardens fully reopened with ribbon-cutting ceremony
    The back section of Winton Library Gardens, which had been closed for many years following anti-social behaviour issues, finally reopened with a celebratory ceremony on Saturday 13th July, attended by Winton East’s Green councillors Simon Bull and Chris Rigby, plus the Chair of BCP Council. Volunteers from BH9 Business Community cut a ribbon to officially open the garden.
