It’s now much easier to report drug crime activity – after Alasdair Keddie leads 21 June 2024 / 23 September 2024 by chrishenderson Local residents can now report any suspected drugs-related activity to Dorset Police much more quickly and easily. Green Councillor for Queen's Park & Charminster Alasdair Keddie is a member of the Dorset Police & Crime Panel. He successfully led a strand of work by the Panel on crime reporting, which led to agreement for Dorset Police to set up a new “intelligence portal” webform. Read more »
Closure of Banks Medical centre: Concerns over impact on access 21 June 2024 / 23 September 2024 by chrishenderson A second medical centre in Winton is to close – causing concern about GP access for local residents. Banks Medical Centre on Wimborne Road will permanently close by the end of the year. This follows the closure last year of Winton Health Centre on Alma Road. Read more »

"We caught up on progress made regarding the gates (still some work to do but getting there), heard about the partnership with Grounded Community and how residents are benefitting from nutritious meals made in the kitchen, the social activities planned by staff and residents to combat loneliness (can't wait for the bingo!) and saw how the plants from Kings Park Nursery are settling in. Damage to local infrastructure by utility companies: Sara Armstrong demands wider accountability, as reimbursement to Council agreed for Grants Avenue repairs 4 June 2024 / 19 October 2024 by chrishenderson Today Sara Armstrong was delighted to meet Chris and Danny from BCP Council Highways for an update on the damaged drain. This first came to light last year as a direct result of residents and Sara as their councillor, lobbying officers to get the drain investigated and repaired. During this it came to light that a utility company had damaged the infrastructure and not reported it. Read more »
Sara Armstrong rehomes plants from the closed King’s Park nursery 4 June 2024 / 22 October 2024 by chrishenderson Councillor Sara Armstrong (East Cliff & Springbourne) writes: "This afternoon I've been out finding new homes out in the community for some of the legacy plants from the now closed Kings Park Nursery. Residents at Vale Road complex and Marchwood on Manor Road were only too pleased to plant these hardy perennials in their community gardens. Since the closure of Kings Park Nursery, I've also found new homes for plants at Knyveton Gardens Park and East Howe Youth Centre." Read more »

Graffiti cleared from dual carriageway underpasses, as Alasdair Keddie and Sara Armstrong monitor cleanliness 9 May 2024 / 22 October 2024 by chrishenderson Green Councillors Alasdair Keddie (Queen's Park & Charminster) and Sara Armstrong (East Cliff & Springbourne) met with the BCP Graffiti Team as they were cleaning the underpass between their wards, by BH Live and Holdenhurst Road. Alasdair commented: "This underpass is regularly used by our residents as they go to school, work or the gym. We receive frequent reports that the graffiti makes people feel unsafe." Read more »
