Alarming holes [see picture] have appeared in recent months on Acland Road in Winton East. The cause of these collapses has been weaknesses in Wessex Water’s sewer lateral under the road. Local Green Councillor Simon Bull has been in touch with BCP Council, who have undertaken emergency road repairs.
The Council has managed to get a partial fix from Wessex Water – lining of internal pipework in the sewer under Acland Road from the top of the hill to the Charminster Road junction.
However, work by Wessex Water to resolve a blockage of the sewer led to its collapse. They have told the Council they are now “programming in works” to close the road for the necessary repairs.
