In a major step forward for local democracy and community-led planning, last week BCP Council's Cabinet has unanimously approved the designation of a Neighbourhood Area and the formation of a Neighbourhood Forum for East Cliff and Springbourne, This milestone follows months of dedicated community engagement, with three consultation processes and over 200 responses - a clear sign of the appetite for greater local influence and collaboration.

Green Councillor for East Cliff & Springbourne Sara Armstrong says: "As we approach the close of the consultation in this stage to agree the boundaries of our Neighbourhood Plan and enable a Forum, I've been asked by residents about the benefits of Neighbourhood Planning. Neighbourhood plans can benefit communities in many ways."

Sara Armstrong, Green Councillor for East Cliff & Springbourne, has received a response from BCP Council's strategic lead for Green Space & Conservation, in response to concerns she raised on behalf of residents about fenced-off play equipment in Kings Park.

Earlier this month Councillor Sara Armstrong met with her East Cliff & Springbourne ward colleague Cllr Moriarty and BCP Council officers from Greenspaces and Economic Development to discuss the use of the Prosperity Fund in the ward. £10,000 has been allocated to enhance the Springbourne district area. Improvements will focus on the area around the pocket park at Springbourne Library.

Sara Armstrong, Green Councillor for East Cliff & Springbourne, says: "It was wonderful to be invited to celebrate the 1st birthday of Maddie's Miracle recently at Bournemouth Foodbank Garden Rooms Cafe. "Maddie's Miracle is a charity set up by parents who experienced a gap in the support available to assist with breastfeeding and perinatal care. They set up Maddie's Miracle to address that."

The Friends of Knyveton and Spencer Gardens launched itself as a constituted community group this evening, at the Eastcliff & Springbourne Residents Group Meeting. Councillor Sara Armstrong (East Cliff & Springbourne) said: "Reclaiming the park as a community is an important step in combating the type of ASB that has blighted this part of our neighbourhood for decades."

Yesterday Councillor Sara Armstrong (East Cliff & Springbourne) spent the day in Brighton hearing about how other areas in the UK and some communities in Norway, are tackling prostitution. Sara said: "The sex industry has existed in East Cliff - the Southcote, St Francis and Knyveton areas - for as long as I can remember. The reasons for it are complex and the impacts are far reaching."

Today Councillor Sara Armstrong and community volunteer Louise Kenchington made a start tidying up the space around Springbourne Library and rehoming some of the plants from Kings Park Nursery in the planters outside.
