Bournemouth, Christchurch & Poole’s first two Green Party Councillors were in Winton East: Simon Bull, first elected in May 2015, and Chris Rigby, first elected in May 2019. Simon and Chris were both re-elected to BCP Council in May 2023.

- Closure of Banks Medical centre: Concerns over impact on accessA second medical centre in Winton is to close – causing concern about GP access for local residents. Banks Medical Centre on Wimborne Road will permanently close by the end of the year. This follows the closure last year of Winton Health Centre on Alma Road.

CHARM aims to improve relationships between BU students and our permanent resident communities, with a focus on minimising anti-social behaviour and environmental health issues.

- Simon Bull presses universities over student-community relations in WintonWinton East Green Party councillor Simon Bull has recently met with representatives of Bournemouth University (BU), Arts University Bournemouth (AUB), Dorset Police, and BCP Council, to address issues regarding students and permanent residents living as neighbours in the community. Simon encourages community-minded students to sign up as paid Community Wardens.
- Green Councillors submit Climate & Ecological Emergency motion to first meeting of the new BCP CouncilBournemouth’s Green Councillors Simon Bull and Chris Rigby have fulfilled their pledge to submit a motion to the first meeting of the new BCP Council proposing a local declaration of climate and ecological emergency. 59 councils in the UK have already made a declaration.

Simon Bull has lived in Winton East with his family for 18 years. He has a finance background, and is currently chief executive of a locally based national charity. Previously Simon set up and ran for 14 years an arts charity working with disadvantaged members of the Bournemouth community.
Simon is passionate about leaving a planet fit for our children.
Simon was first elected in 2015. He is currently Vice-Chair of BCP Council. As a hard-working councillor he has held several scrutiny roles, and served as Chair of BCP’s Planning Committee.
Councillor chris rigby
Chris Rigby works as technical lead for a solar energy co-operative, putting local environmental aspirations into practice every day. He is also an active member of Greenpeace UK as well as local environmental groups.
Elected in 2019 to BCP Council, he has served as Group Leader, and in scrutiny and standards roles.
