Councillor Sara Armstrong

Sara Armstrong was elected as East Cliff & Springbourne’s first Green councillor in a resounding by-election win on 29th June 2023.

Sara is a single mum to two grown-up children. She has lived in Springbourne for over 20 years working for local charities, the council and the NHS. She is passionate about championing community issues, and stood to become a councillor because she wants more for our neighbourhood than was previously being offered. She firmly believes that when we work together, we can all thrive.

After 100 years, King’s Park Plant Nursery has permanently closed. BCP Council decided to axe the facility as part of £41m of further cuts to balance its books. Councils across the country are in dire financial straits, following 14 years of swingeing cuts to council funding by the Conservative Government. Green Councillors Alasdair Keddie (Queen’s Park & Charminster) and Sara Armstrong (East Cliff & Springbourne) visited the nursery at the end to personally thank the staff and volunteers – and collect some surplus plants and tree bark to distribute to community projects in the area.
