Sara Armstrong was elected as East Cliff & Springbourne’s first Green councillor in a resounding by-election win on 29th June 2023.
Sara is a single mum to two grown-up children. She has lived in Springbourne for over 20 years working for local charities, the council and the NHS. She is passionate about championing community issues, and stood to become a councillor because she wants more for our neighbourhood than was previously being offered. She firmly believes that when we work together, we can all thrive.

The Friends of Knyveton and Spencer Gardens launched itself as a constituted community group this evening, at the Eastcliff & Springbourne Residents Group Meeting. Yesterday Councillor Sara Armstrong (East Cliff & Springbourne) spent the day in Brighton hearing about how other areas in the UK and some communities in Norway, are tackling prostitution. Sara said: “The sex industry has existed in East Cliff – the Southcote, St Francis and Knyveton areas – for as long as I can remember.
